Paolo Bascetta

I graduated in mathematics at the University of Bologna, the city where I was born, studied, and taught maths, at the Secondary School. For more than forty years, I dedicated myself with enthusiasm to origami. Maybe, due to my scientific background, I prefer modular and geometric origami, which is simple but elegant; nevertheless, I also appreciate figurative and complex origami. I have created over one hundred original models (not only geometric models) which have been published in many books and magazines both in Italy and abroad. I was a member of The Executive Council of Origami Diffusion Centre (C.D.O) during the second half of the 1980s, taking part in all the National Conventions. I was an invited guest at the main Origami Conventions around the world: USA, Germany, Hungary, Great Britain, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Japan, South Korea, Israel. In 2010, I published a book containing the first collection of my models. 2016 is the year in which I choose to give an artistic turning point in my works. Stop with the origami game and pastime. I focus on the colors, the choice of paper, and models that can have an artistic connotation. I published a second book “Arte in Piega”. This book will be also completely different, from a graphical point of view, from the previous one. In 2020 I published two more books: “Trasparenze” e “Creatività modulare”.
