Federico Scalambra

Federico Scalambra was born in Bologna, Italy, in 1977 and he is a biomedical engineer. He discovered origami when he was 8 years old and has been growing passionate about it ever since. In particular, he’s been drawing his attention towards figurative models and is especially focusing and developing the technique of “figurative modular origami”, also known as composite origami, consisting of several sheets of different-sized paper put together using a system of flaps and pockets, with neither use of glue nor scissors. He’s been invited as special guest to several international conventions and always participates to Italian ones organized by the national origami association (Centro Diffusione Orignami, CDO). There, his models always display such unique and spectacular settings and variety of details as to make them a success, alongside with the creativity lying therein and hidden mysteries concealed in the models themselves. Diagrams of his models have been published on specialized national and international journals and books.
