A couple of years ago I developped a technique combining origami and slits to create models that are not unlike stained glass. At first, I made geometrical models: lattices. Now, I can extend the application to figurative models and insects are ideal for this. I chose to create a giraffe weevil for two reasons: 1) it is a very interesting-looking insect and 2) the different color on the elytras are perfect for an eye-catching color-change. In order to obtain the right proportions, I used photos on the web imported on Fusion360; a very unusual design process. The model was folded using
