Malvin is a 25-year-old origamist from the Philippines. If his role in the real world is “making things better” as a certified industrial engineer (CIE), his role as an origamist is to promote origami by spreading the joy of paper folding and its social, educational, and developmental benefits in his home country.
He won first place and the popular vote in the Abstract-Technical category of the Joisel Awards 2023 and first place in the Abstract-Interpretation category in 2022. He also became one of the test folders for Peter Buchan-Symon's book "Folding Fantasy: Volume 1." Moreover, he has a home-based display of origami models – “The Origami Display Room” – which he opened to the public last October 2018. His folds were featured on TV Patrol Southern Tagalog Philippines twice – during the opening of his display room and last April 2017.
He is a member of the Origami Artists of the Philippines and specializes in origami tessellations in terms of design and reverse-engineering.
