About Jaciara
"I started folding in the '80s.
I’m self-taught and passionate about origami and its different techniques. But, in later years, I got better at creating geometric shapes.
After graduating as an Arts Education Teacher, I went to live in Europe. To improve my studies with different techniques related to paper.
One of my characteristics is to study different kinds of materials to fold, like fabric, stainless steel mesh or aluminum caps, and some others.
I taught Origami classes in several public schools in Paris. I have been a member of different Origami Associations. At that time I started presenting my work, and writing for origami magazines, giving workshops at several international conferences.
On my return to Brazil, I started as a Translator in some small events and as an origami teacher.
In parallel, with friends, we created the First Origami Group in Brazil, DoBras - Dobras Brasil. This year, we are celebrating the group's 18th birthday. I was twice its president and during that time we organized Congresses, Conferences and promoted international meetings and exchanges with international origami artists and other origami associations. With an average of 100 to 150 people per event.
In June 2009, I co-authored with Glória Aguiar, the Origami book “Dobrando Tea Bag e Mandalas”. With the launch of this book, I was invited by several Brazilian origami groups to travel and disseminate the Tea Bag technique throughout Brazil, giving workshops.
I went to the 1st Latin American Origami Congress, in Bogotá Colombia, in April 2010.
In October 2010, I launched my second Origami book “Papéis Mandalas e Flocos de Neve”, during the 1st Argentine National Origami Congress, in Rosario - Argentina.
Since then I have dedicated myself to my firm. Where I give workshops, create sets for television and theatre made in origami."
