About Artur
With great regret and sadness we have to inform you that on June 8th, 2023, Artur Biernacki passed away from us completely unexpectedly.
Artur Biernacki was a leading Polish origami creator and artist. He was born on October 19, 1978. He got interested in the art of paper folding at the age of 15, when he found diagrams by foreign creators, published in "Młody Technik" ("Young Technician"). He started searching for other books on this topic. However, domestic positions were not enough to satisfy his strongly developing urge to fold. Ultimately, the Internet has become his inexhaustible knowledge database. Works of Japanese origami creators, such as Akira Yoshizawa, Hideo Komatsu, and Satoshi Kamiya became an inspiration for Artur to create his own models.
Artur Biernacki is a conservatist when it comes to the rules of folding paper. He uses neither scissors nor glue, mostly folding square-shaped paper sheets. Many foreign creators state that Artur excels in solving and folding models from crease patterns.
In 2004, Artur joined the editorial staff of the web portal www.origami.art.pl, which became a breakthrough in the progress of his passion and talent. In 2006, along with other members of the portal, he co-founded the Polish Origami Association "Paper Phantasies", in which he has been actively working as a POA instructor.
Artur is the author of two books: "Origami Made in Poland" and "Polish Your Origami". He also posts his diagrams in various domestic and foreign magazines and bulletins. His latest works can be found on the website www.flickr.com/arturori.
In 2009, Artur Biernacki was a special guest of the AEP Convention Origami in Alicante, Hungary Origami Convention in Mezobereny in 2017. He was a special guest of the Origami Convention in Lion in 2019, and in Boston during OrigaMIT.
