PEACEFULNESS

A leaf folded into the form of a meditating monk, not to create a grand image, but to return — to "wu wei", where nothing is forced, nothing displayed, and form emerges naturally through simplicity. Fragile and fleeting, the leaf carries impermanence within it. Folded without cutting or embellishment, it follows only the veins of the leaf and the quiet rhythm of the breath.
Like a leaf falling at the right moment — without desire, without thought.

For the material and shaping:
During early Buddhism, monks had to go to landfills or cemeteries to pick up pieces of rag cloth and sew together to make robes. According to the Vinayapiṭaka of Theravāda Buddhism, the rag-robe (paṃsukūla) was the first robe in the early days when Buddhism was preached.

I use the leaf as material of folding. The surface of the leaf, with its veins, looks natural after folding, like a piece of sewing used for making the monk's robes. Furthermore, I make the 2 versions with 2 types of leaves: green and dried. The green leaf is soft and pliable, easily rolled to create geometric shapes. The model made from green leaf had details of clasped hands and sleeves. The model made from dried leaves is an improved version, minimal. The natural color and texture of dried leaf matches the robes’ color of the masters, with the texture and an aged look like old, worn-out robes. The model depicts the monk in the seated lotus meditation. posture.
