About Tuan
I was born on 1972 in Vietnam. I'm an chemical engineer. I started playing with origami from 6 years old, and has chosen origami as a professional career on 2016.
I love natural world, especially animals. I’m inspired by the beauty and liveliness of them, and with my origami creations, I hope to transmit all my feeling about this beautiful natural world to the audience.
Simplicity is the character in most of my models. I always limit the number of folds in the model as few as I can, but it must be enough to create the beauty and cleanliness of the models. Sometime to simplify a model spend me a lot of time, but face to the challenge is also an interesting point.
My normal designing process is a discovery journey. When I have an idea, I let the inspiration, emotion to lead my hands. I just follow what I feel and the results are often surprising even me.
I don't want to limit origami by its classical definition - folding from a square sheet of paper with no cuts and glue - and I try to take every opportunity to test new techniques and ideas: cutting, bending, sculpturing, engrave, changing shape of paper, color change , geometrical fold ... To me, folding is infinite; my imagination roams free.
I enjoy wet-folding, a special technique with a special material - normally the water color paper or the most famous handmade Vietnamese paper – Do with acrylic paint for my creations.
When someone enjoys and feel happy when folding my creation, it makes me happier and it becomes my inspiration to create more models. I hope I can pass my passion of origami and the love of nature to other peoples.
