T21 The Red And White Dragons
Return to Entries
The double-dragon model, my latest opus, is very rarely seen in the world of origami. Technically speaking, multiple-object models usually rely on the stacking of box pleating, whereas I adopt a pure 22.5°technique to minimize thickness and to improve efficiency, which can be proven by the high ratio of the model’s height to the square’s side length (around 60%). In addition, I use a unique point-splitting layout to embed the dragons’ legs; I also apply the golden ratio to make the opus elegant. Although its CP seems uncomplicated, yet the folding process is extremely challenging which involves many 3-D operations. Inspired by the Mabinogion story “Lludd and Llefelys”, the model also has a profound connotation. In short, it is a supreme design.
