I09 Maitreya by Hojyo Takashi

This interpretation of Hojyo Takashi's "Maitreya" is transformed into a whole different design as it is unrecognizable from the original. By adding a complete face, changing the head crown, adding musculature to the torso, and sculpting realistic-looking hands, this model has been elevated to a completely new dimension. The facial expression and the meditative pose adds so much more atmosphere and religious determination to the character. The transformative process is completed through the handpainted golden paper which makes the model seem like a living sculpture.
