About Gareth
Gareth Louis has developed a body of work that spans nearly 30 years of design and practice. His approach to origami is marked by a transition from traditional techniques to specialised, complex styles. So far he has written and published two books
1) The Origami Allsorts Collection was written compiling 30 years of his work to showcase a wide stylistic range from simple pureland to complex origami instrumentalists.
2) Origami: Paper Days, Folded Nights was written containing new models developed during and post COVID lockdowns.
Design Philosophy and Technical Execution
Gareth's work is characterised by a "modern, minimalist" aesthetic, particularly in how he presents his work for publication. Many of his designs lean into clever geometric patterns, likely influenced by his professional background in data analytics. He places a heavy emphasis on the "educational" aspect of the craft, refining instructional text to ensure that even complex models are followable.
