International Signal Flags, by Jannie van Schuylenburg

Often a model is created by playing with paper, but in this case it was a clear assignment. Someone asked me to design the word PEACE written with international signal flags. Such an assignment is wonderful. First we looked at what the signal flags should look like, and then it is search, play and try. The sport for me is to design it in such a way that no glue is needed and it can be folded without any problems. But of course you also want to be able to make other words when the word PEACE is ready. So then I sat down in my 'origami bubble' and made the whole alphabet.
My father is a skipper and when he saw the folded flags, he immediately recognized them as the signal flags. Each flag represents a letter of the alphabet, but in itself also has a broader meaning, such as 'I am anchored'.
All are made from the same size of paper, and all flags have the same size. To speak to the A-team: I love it when a plan comes true.
