Boats

‘Boats’ is the first in a series of cubes which is inspired by a vision to embrace each face of the cube as a canvas, thereby creating minimalistic representations of a figure or symbol, in this case, the boat.

This elegant representation is brought about by an incredibly simple but versatile unit folded from a blintzed sheet of square paper.

It is, however, the assembly of the units which forms the backbone of the cube. The flaps of units, instead of going over, goes under the other units. This, essentially, contributes to the clean and crisp appearance of each face as well as the corners of the cube. It is also entirely possible to combine various units to create a cube with six different figures on its six faces.

Therefore, the seamless, straightforward assembly coupled with the simplicity and versatility of the units ultimately helps realise the very vision with which the cube was conceived in the first place.
