Here I am, hoping that this model comes close to achieving several some of my origami aims:
- It represents life and human wants through simple shapes.
- Subject first, medium second: While it remains visible that this is a folded object, its shapes and what they represent are hopefully what catches the eye and the mind of the spectator first. If they care at all that the model is origami, it should only come as a boon. Rather than be an end onto itself or -worse- the main reason for its appeal, the medium is only relevant because of what was born thanks to its constraints.
- Facettes: the work suggests different meanings and has different connotations, depending on its orientation and its lighting.
