The most basic of origami design methods is to take an existing base and modify it into something similar. This app does exactly that, but instead of choosing from a handful of traditional bases, it chooses from a large database of original crease patterns generated by the system itself. This allows designers to quickly find a base that is natural to fold and approximates their target structure as closely as possible.
