There are many origami skulls, but creating the different cavities realistically is not easy. This one uses hex pleating. With 30-degree folds, it is easier to create 3D features. The cavities for the eye sockets and for the nose are not flat-foldable. The eye sockets are already three-dimensional once collapsed, but are triangular at first. They are later inflated and rounded. The nose is created using two sinks which lie perpendicularly to the front of the model and are then inflated. The jaws are folded flat and then bent in place and shaped.
