A telescope is pointed at a distant star in the night sky, except in this case, it's not really that distant. The star and night sky are as close as the telescope, completely inseparable. These objects are folded from the same sheet, just as their real-life counterparts are formed from the single tapestry of the universe. When we look out into the cosmos, we aren't separate observers, looking from the outside in. We are the universe observing itself.
