Underwater Musings is a series of free-form folded sculptures inspired by the dynamic forms and fluidity of underwater sea life. The piece is formed by first creating a densely crimped sheet of paper using repeated linear crumpling, followed by creasing the sheet in numerous undulating curves, then curving and shaping the whole into a final form. The paper is tengucho washi. The piece is unique and not exactly reproducible due to the random nature of crumpling and shaping used.
