Maze Runner #2

Often when we think about interpretation in origami we focus on spectacular technique, at the expense of artistic possibilities. Brendan takes a well known flower design by Dasa Serverova and makes it into an artwork where the meanings multiply the longer you look. Is it a metaphor for the over coming the struggles we face in life? Is it about making art? Is it about man’s attempts to control nature? When I asked Brendan about nominating this work, he said “but it’s not origami!” I hope the judges see an interpretative work where the meaning is stronger because it uses folding.
