Star Atarbus

The unique shape of the modular Star Atarbus makes it stand out from the constellation of origami stars.

Two elements from my childhood get combined in this model folded with handmade papers from the Himalayas.

On one hand, when viewed from this side, it is reminiscent of paper airplanes which were an quintessential part of our childhood (and in turn, origami as well). In this respect, Star Atarbus is successful in evoking emotions of nostalgia, joy, etc. in me, and possibly, in the viewer as well.

However, on the other hand, and more personally, the paper plays an important role. I came across these papers last month during my trip to Kalimpong where it is made. It is worth mentioning that these exclusive handmade papers from the Himalayas were considered deluxe when I was growing up. However, the cherry on top is when I found out that they are amazing for folding as well.

Thus without further ado, I folded Star Atarbus with it. The paper elevates the model in a way I never imagined, and it gives me so much joy every time I look at it. Life, indeed, is made of the simpler joys!
