Sports Car

This model is inspired from 2 separate designers, i.e. Jason Ku’s convertible and Akira Kawamura’s Vintage Car. This sports car is folded from a single sheet of square paper, as it utilises a combination of axial and three dimensional within a 32 grid. To achieve a more unique and creative folding process, a variety of traditional tessellations had been used to form details on different parts of the car. Although this model has an efficiency of around 34%, it uses large areas of the paper on both sides, center regions of the paper is also used for building structures.
About the folding process, a flat base with fully collapsed wheels is required at first, before collapsing the model three dimensionally. Folding the details can be tricky in some certain places of the model, other than that, shaping is relatively easy yet really time consuming.
