The Asociación Civil Plegando al Sur (which is the actual name for Origami Argentina) was born on October 24th 2009, but since 2006 a group of origamists from Argentina started the meetings that were the seed of the association. The main aim of Origami Argentina is to spread the art of Origami in the country.
Currently, Origami Argentina groups more than 150 origamists from all the corners of Argentina, and some from other countries as well. The association publishes a regular Magazine, Plegando al Sur, which was Argentina’s first magazine specialized in Origami, with the issue number 11 is being published in 2023. The magazine includes articles about different aspects of origami and the association, as well as diagrams from Argentinian creators.
There is a biennial convention organized by the association, that is a national event where international guests and national origamists teach workshops and share three days of origami and friendship. The association is subdivided in regional groups, that organize their own meetings and regional one-day conventions.
