"Origin" : A Free Modular Fractal Origami System

Origin is a fully developed, freely configurable fractal origami system. Through this work, I explore how an extremely simple recursive base structure can undergo complex and diverse processes of branching and assembly.

Within this system, form generation does not rely on the repetition of predefined shapes. Instead, complexity emerges from the splitting and recombination of recursive units at a local scale. By altering branching numbers and configurations, a single initial structure can give rise to markedly different geometric relationships and spatial trajectories.

In this series, I realized eight distinct branching configurations, ranging from a non-branching primitive form to structures incorporating single, triple, fivefold, and ninefold branching, as well as hybrid combinations of multiple branching levels. Together, these examples demonstrate the structural scope and generative capacity of Origin as a free fractal system.
