The Star Plate Series

Fourteen distinct works, yet all built upon the same underlying structure. This series represents an unwavering exploration of the potential of a single origami structure, encompassing various attempts such as translational combinations, fractal compositions, edge detailing, and breaking rotational symmetry. The foundational model of the series is the hexagram fractal structure. Based on this, four pieces in the series are designed as 2-level fractals, meaning both the individual tessellation units and the overall model exhibit fractal distribution. This includes two fractal scaling factors: 2 and √3, and covers all forms of fractal design—rotational fractals, non-rotational fractals, outward-expanding fractals, and inward-contracting fractals.
