One of the most captivating aspects of origami tessellation is the play of light and shadow, yet in reality, the light and shadow effects are often discovered unexpectedly after the design is completed. This piece reverses that process—it was designed from the outset with the light and shadow effect as the primary goal, aiming to recreate the details of a cherry blossom as faithfully as possible, including the curved edges of the petals and their subtle notches. In fact, I have already completed the design for a combined work that integrates seven of these patterns into one, though the folding itself has not yet been finished.
